Andrew Schuman

With over 700 Grateful Dead concerts and thousands of musical events/festivals under his belt, American promoter/manager Andrew Schuman has worked in the entertainment industry since 1985. That’s when Clarence Clemons walked him into Giant Stadium to give him his first job building concert stages with local IATSE union 632 Andrew learned from the ground up. Andrew has the experience important in developing young bands into stars to guiding the careers of established national acts. In 1988, Andrew started producing his own concert series, booking events and managing up and coming bands and directly working with many of the world’s top touring musical acts. The bands that he worked closely with were a wide range of super talents. From the 60’s classics Crosby Stills Nash, Hot Tuna, the Jefferson Airplane and Yes to the 80s bands like Clarence Clemons, and the amazing Blues Traveler.

To round out Andrew’s career and management skills he became the manager and head of sales of the media department for the Hilton Corporation. In this role Andrew sold and oversaw all production of corporate and live events, staging, lighting, sound equipment and technical staffing, as well as all aspects of every live performances held by Hilton. More recently has continued to help put together the annual Big Man’s Bash (which is an annual fundraising charitable event which also promotes the legacy of the late Clarence Clemons). Andrew also was one of the founding members and sat on the board of directors for Big Man’s Brew. (The highly successful rock and roll craft beer company founded to memorialize the legacy of Clarence Clemons). Currently Andrew co-founded Grateful Entertainment Management and and continues to promote and foster Young Artists to reach their full potential.

Managed, booked, and acted as publicist for Grammy Award winning artist Blues Traveler. Managed The UMC’s, a classic hip-hop group from Staten Island. Secured a co-promotion agreement b/w BGP & Ron Delsener that produced a sold out Roseland Ballroom concert featuring Blues Traveler, Merle Saunders, and the Spin Doctors. Found the Arrowhead Ranch (AHR) in Parksville, NY and produced the first ever Phish camping weekend. The AHR series was the first environmentally sound concert series, and among others featured Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, Widespread Panic, Richie Havens, The Original lineup of The Band, The Radiators, and the The Dreyer Brothers. Booked and promoted numerous Phish, Blues Traveler, and Spin Doctors concerts from 1989-1992. Represented Bill Graham as the United States representative to The United Nations Committee for Nelson Mandela and the NY State Nelson Mandela Committee.

Also 15 years of fundraising success, including being the “teams manager” for the 2004 AIDS WALK, which raised more than $2,000,000 for AIDS Service.
